Philosophy of Mastering
Mastering is an art. You have worked long and hard on your mix and you probably don’t want someone altering the sound of your mix by automatically cranking up the compression. We understand, because personally, we don’t want our mixes to sound that way either. Our engineers' years of studio experience and well-trained ears provide the knowledge and understanding it takes to proceed confidently with each mastering job. That gives us an edge when it comes to working with your final mixes. We want to be as proud of your project as you are.
Having a state of the art mastering room also is a part of making a customer's good master sound even better. We hired one of the finest studio designers to create a mastering room that allows our engineers to realize the full potential of their mastering skills for both CD and cassette projects.
Equipment
It takes an experienced engineer, and the right tools for the job. We use gear from names you know and trust, like Sonic Solutions, Digidesign, Drawmer, TC Electronics, Apogee, Dolby and HHB, just to name a few.
We also have two CD testing systems to carefully test and examine not only masters we produce at WMG, but also masters submitted by customers. If anything is wrong, we discover it here, instead of during the glass mastering stage, saving valuable turnaround time and additional expense.
Our cassette mastering hardware includes the finest digital mastering and manufacturing technology available. A custom digital audio workstation is used to create masters for The Gauss MAX digital bin system.
